Trusted care, proven by patients

Due to Mr Hopkins intervention i was able to eat and drink, the operation was successful and and i was allowed home after five days . I found that Mr Hopkins gave me a very informed detail of the operation i was going to have and information on how the operation went,he also provided me with a comprehensive plan for post operation diet taking a lot of guess work out of what I need to eat and the timescale of each tier which was very appreciated.

Southmead Hospital Patient

After many days investigations in April and constant updating from Mr Hopkins which I appreciated very much (I may not have shown it) finally I was told I hade a large cyst on my spleen.Mr Hopkins decided on a planned elective splenectomy for 10th of may 2019 as the best way forward.I was sent home under the care of the Hospital at home service. On the 10th May I had my spleen removedMr Hopkins took the time to explain each and every detail about the procedure and put me at easeI wish to thank him and his team and would have no hesitation recommending Mr Hopkins along with the care at home team.

Southmead Hospital Patient

After a gall bladder removal at Emerson Green I had a major bile leak that turned to septis and ulcers on the liver. I was taken by ambulance to Southmead very unwell.thanks to the great skill of Jame Hopkins and his brilliant team I am now back well again.the after care has been a1 plus with Kate Hewings on the ball. The nursing staff are brilliant. Southmead are lucky to have this team of dedicated staff and thank you all again.

Chris Snow

Mr Hopkins provided excellent quality of care when i was in S'mead Hospital recently. He was able to think 'outside the box' and focused on listening carefully to the history of my problem and not be side-tracked. This enabled him to perform minimal surgery without the need to do more invasive surgery. He was able to find the'migrated clip' without needing to do any gall bladder probing ( which some Drs had recommended) I am now pain free and can actually sit down for the 1st time in many weeks. Great work Dr, and thank you for your knowledge and skills! How lucky we are to have an NHS providing such great care!

Mr J. Ross

Mr Hopkins was a true gentleman - he answered my questions giving me the assurances I needed. The approach of the entire team ensured I was in a positive frame of mind right up to the anaesthetic. Coming round I was greeted with friendly voices which, along with the care back on ward, helped for a swift recovery. It was good to be able to thank him personally on his rounds before I left the hospital. I just need to examine his needlework and resultant scars when the dressings come off! Thank you!

Southmead Hospital Patient

I left my grateful comments one year ago when I had lifesaving surgery from Mr James Hopkins, so one year on, and still going strong, thanks to his skilled handiwork. Daily my wife and I are thankful to him and his team and the whole of Southmead Hospital.Thank you.
